Due to its high cement content, exterior wall putty is prone to peeling, chalking, and hollowing if not properly cured or applied. To improve strength, water spraying after application is recommended to promote cement hydration and enhance the integrity of the putty layer.

It is advised to use a clear penetrating primer instead of traditional colored sealing primers. The stronger penetration helps reinforce the putty base. Dilute the primer slightly during application and avoid direct sunlight to prevent premature film formation and ensure proper adhesion.

For localized strength issues, remove the loose areas and reapply with mesh and repair putty. If the damage is extensive, remove all defective layers, respray the base, apply mesh, and re-plaster using qualified materials. Once strength issues appear, only complete rework can ensure quality — primer or maintenance alone is insufficient.
